About Me

Hey Everyone!

My name is Nessa Brown, and this is my second year teaching at Young Scholars of State College. I am excited to be your child's fourth grade teacher!!

Ironically, it was in fourth grade I realized I wanted to be a teacher  because I was able to learn so much from my fourth grade teacher. I saw the way he built relationships, helped students when they needed it, and he was passionate about what he did. He went above and beyond for his students and I knew I wanted to be just like him.

I am from Philipsburg, PA and this is where I grew up. I moved to Clarion, PA in 2010 to attend Clarion University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. I moved back to Philipsburg and became a Pre K Counts teacher (and taught for five years). I decided I was really interested in curriculum, so I studied Curriculum and Instruction and earned my Master's degree in Education in 2017.

I live with my boyfriend Ryan and my three labs (Oakley who is 6 years old, Buddy who is 4 years old, and Cora who is 2 year old). We enjoy going on walks, going swimming in a lake somewhere, going to the beach, and so much more. I also enjoy singing and playing indoor soccer.

Fun Fact: I was born on February 29th ( which there is a 1 in 1,461 chance of happening), so I have only had six real birthdays. My students usually are interested in the fact that I have only ever had 7 actual birthdays.
